Health Minister Michael McGimpsey has today welcomed survey results that show that the vast majority of people are satisfied with GP services in Northern Ireland.
The GP Patient Survey was issued to approximately 236,000 people throughout Northern Ireland between January and March 2009 to assess patients? views on the services they receive. Survey results have been published on the Department?s website today.
Summary results show that:
* 94% of patients are satisfied with the care they receive at their surgery.
* 97% of patients have confidence and trust in their doctor.

Since 2001 at least 11 County residents, including six children and two seniors, have drowned in swimming pools. The children ranged from 6 to 16 years of age, and the seniors were 73 and 88.
The following precautions are recommended for residential as well as public swimming pools to reduce the risk not only of drownings but also injuries and infections:

Cat and dog bites commonly contain a mix of anaerobes and aerobes. The list includes at least 30 pathogens which can be transmitted from pets to people, including species of Pasteurella, Streptococcus, Fusobacterium, and Capnocytophaga. Infections from these pathogens can result in severe infections in about 20% of all dog and cat bites.

Mold can grow quickly in homes and other buildings following a flood. When airborne mold spores are present in large numbers, they can trigger allergic reactions, asthma episodes, infections and other respiratory problems. In addition, exposure can cause development of an allergy to mold, resulting in long-term health problems.
