Guests: Brandi Newquist, 3-time cancer survivor and volunteer for the American Cancer Society, came in to discuss “Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October).” She focused on risk factors for developing the disease, prevention measure & the importance of early detection for successful treatment.

Guests: Two representatives from Totally Against Graffiti (T.A.G.), Danielle Mosher, lead of the K-CBS Marketing Team that created the initiative, and Ari Telias, from the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works Graffiti Abatement Program Manager, came in to discuss the initiative of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, that focuses on elementary school children in the county providing them with education about the cost and consequences of graffiti. The program offers rewards to schools whose students have made significant efforts to report graffiti for clean-up.

Guests: Catherine Brown, President of the Children Affected By AIDS Foundation, came in to discuss the upcoming “Dream Halloween,” taking place on Saturday, October 27th, a fundraising event for this pediatric aids organization to assist with their ongoing mission to provide resources & services to care for children with HIV/AIDS. They are also very involved in funding research to find a cure.

Guests: Luis Marquez, Chief Operating Officer of the PUENTE (People United To Enrich The Neighborhood Through Education) Learning Center, came in to discuss how they serve as a bridge to support the goals of children & adults in South Los Angeles for learning & literacy. He also promoted their upcoming Golf Tournament that will raise funds for services.
