Segment# I 11:00pm-11:30pm
Guest: Pastor Michael Martin from Learning to Live Fellowship based in Inglewood, discussed the efforts of their team of mentors and volunteers to provide support to foster children who will become "aged out" of the system at 18 years old, many of whom may find themselves without any support and suddenly in a position to act as adults. "Next Steps" is a program that is working to identify and offer support for the estimated 20,000 children who "age out" of the foster care system each year. For many of these young people, aging out means becoming homeless, unemployment and enduring a lifetime of struggle. Mentors, tutors & volunteers focus on four core areas: computer literacy, writing proficiency, financial planning & understanding, and social interaction & life skills. He also promoted their upcoming benefit concert on March 29th.
