Description:
Non-paid internship available with the Morning Show on 94.7 The WAVE. Interns at The WAVE must receive college credit and will receive no other compensation. Must show proof of enrollment in college internship program.
The intern will receive invaluable “behind the scenes” experience in the step-by-step production of a major market morning show. This person will gain practical knowledge in production and radio broadcasting, as well as gain access to networking opportunities.
Commitment:
The Morning Show runs Monday thru Friday, from 6am – 9am. Hours will depend upon intern’s course schedule. Preferred commitment for this internship is 2-3 days per week, for approximately 5 hours per day.
Interns must be able to commute to the radio station located on the Miracle Mile in Los Angeles.
Responsibilities:
Technical Experience
- Potential for hands-on technical experience (CD library upkeep; voice tracking with Audio Vault; audio editing software program, Adobe Audition; Morning Show air checks of bits and sponsorships, board operation, etc.).
Research
- Scan newspapers (Los Angeles Times, USA Today, etc.) for timely news/entertainment items used in the morning show.
- Research any/all information and relatable events on internet and print as necessary for use in morning show.
Administrative Work
- Copying of all morning show prep items for voice tracking session.
- Contact and confirm listeners participating in a “Sunrise Serenade” session.
- Fax or e-mail confirmations and directions to guests of morning show.
- Answer incoming morning show telephone calls and take messages.
- Filing of past shows and other documents.
- Other tasks, as needed.
